2011 Has Indeed Been an Awesome Year!!

So much has happened, but there's more to come too!

I finally got out of that horrible, super low paying job at ESI!! I'm now working super close to home and making quite a bit more, in my former career field of travel. I do official government travel for the US Air Force now. I work 7-10 minutes from my home. WooHoo!!!!!

Speaking of home, my landlord finally couldn't handle me being so late with the rent anymore. He was as understanding and patient as he could be. By the time I got the job it was too late, and things were already in motion. He was seriously considering evicting me. That would have really been an issue since with the income I was making then I don't know what kinda place I could have afforded! BUT, my boyfriend stepped up and to make sure that me and the kids wouldn't be living in my sister's basement...and that he would have his own place to call home...so he bought a house!

He got a very high paying job as an overseas contractor (has since been promoted to foreman less than 6 months after getting there!) so sadly I don't see him very often now. But the time we shared at the beginning of the year and up until he left was really a game-changer for our relationship...after all this time and all the EXTRA stuff that I endured.

Yes. I am talking about Dante! We are still together, happier and more committed than ever before. He finally made the right decision by getting rid of Gwen in Memphis. Though she did try one last ditch effort at the end to trap him by getting knocked up. Didn't work!

It's not all peaches and roses, don't get me wrong. But honestly, no real relationship is. There were some VERY rough patches when the house first came in the picture. How so? Well, basically the day of closing -which his mom attended because she's the POA and my idiot job at ESI wouldn't let me off work- is when his family not only found out about me...but that I would be the one living in the house! That was tough at first, but we all settled down and got along just fine. They were actually rather upset at him that he had kept me a secret so long, and then when they noticed how comfortable my WHOLE family is with him (meaning they've obviously been knowing him quite a while).

So I went from a modest but very nice 1200sf (approx) home to a 3200+ sf 4BR/3.75BA home in a great subdivision with a pool and tennis courts in a great school district! It's even 3 minutes from church too!!

That's the cliff note version. He'll be home for Thanksgiving and while he's here we'll have a 40th birthday party for him. I want to have the house done by the time he gets home, complete with his mancave downstairs. Work was absolutely CRAZY from day 3 that I was there, but it's calmed down finally. Kids are settled into their new schools. DJ is in high school now, a freshmen. Taking basically every course that can be honors, including Sophomore Algebra!! He was also the top award recipient and probably top kid at his Jr High School graduation! Yes, Solo-Mommy was VERY PROUD!!! Shockingly, for the first time EVER, his father showed up for this event. His chest stuck out like he was father of the year nearly made me physically ill though, but I put on a great show for the sake of DJ.

In the midst of all that, depression is trying to rear it's ugly head again. I could do better at fighting it, that's for sure. We are going to get the surgery for me that will allow me to have children again. Excited for that! Plus, I am starting to refocus on things that are important in my life. This blog is one. I really used to LOVE blogging, then I just let it die. Another is school. My last go around with school didn't end so well. But I'm ready to jump back in and get this degree DONE!! I'm also ready to truly focus in on what kind of business I want to run, and what alternate forms of income I will use. Yes, my job is just fine and it will be for a few years likely. But after that, I want to migrate into my own, not still being someone else's employee at 40 years old, ya know?

More to come...time to sleep! Missed you lots blogosphere!!!!!

More Good News

Things are looking up slowly but surely! I still have no money and an electric bill that is to be shut off next week, but I remain expectant!

I received my reinstatement of admission letter today for school! YAY!!! What a blessing that has been. Again, I will not let anyone or anything screw this up for me again. I don't care WHAT my personal relationship situation is, it's not bad enough for me to forgo my goal of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Period.

Also, the onsite evaluation went so well yesterday that they set up a phone interview same day. The phone interview went so well that they set up an in person interview for Monday. They wanted today but I couldn't do it for two reasons: 1) Dante and I had an important lunch date planned (our first in a long time); and 2) I am riding on FUMES in my van and getting to the office is a LONG way away! So I insisted on Monday late morning. I also have an orientation with a temp company first thing Monday which I hope will have me working within days.

In the meantime, I need to seriously re-evaluate my standing and position with my online chat work. I've been so depressed and dejected still that I have been neglecting that more than I should. I had a great online conference with a group last night and, after seeing someone real check from working about 40 hours a week, I should be bringing in WAY more than I am. I'm doing what I usually do, not taking this seriously enough.

Better starts immediately. If I do not handle the minor things well, how can I expect God to bless me with the major ones?

AMEN!!

I got a Nibble

It's not the one I want, but I will take what I can get. We do what we can until we can do better, right?

RIGHT??

Noooo, not a guy (remember what I said this blog would be about?)! I'm talking about a job. With pay in the 2 digits per hour and actual benefits. BENEFITS. Medical, dental, paid vacation.

So why am I not more excited about it? Because its a 45-50 minute commute...WITHOUT traffic. Each Way. AND I probably wouldn't be working first shift hours, more like first and second shift mixed. That would suck, because I like to be able to pick up my kids. Period. SoloMommy gets very cranky when she can't tend to her own children.

We shall see. I will go there tomorrow, be early, and be my fabulous self. I will do well on the assessments they'll have me do and great in the mini-interview also. Then I'll wait. Not-so-patiently but I will wait. I NEED a job like a month ago, seriously. It's really bad right now.

My power bill is about to shut off in a few days and I have NO WAY to pay it. They also won't give me any type of extension either. Disconnect date is on or after the 19th and payday is the 22nd. I overdrafted my account (again) just to save my storage unit, so I can't bounce it for this. I need a miracle. Heck, I had to cash in our last bit of coins today to afford the bare minimum on the kids school supplies.

Yep, it's that bad. But my faith is not wavering. I am actually in a VERY expectant state right now. I know that any day now, God is about to blow my mind. He never lets me down, He is -as the Marine motto goes - Semper Fidelis!

Who knows, it could be the place I am going to tomorrow. There may be a package so good that I just can't pass it up, even for a 30-40 minute shorter commute. If I remember correctly from a few years back they were starting off at maybe $12-something an hour. Even with this economy, that starting rate should have gone up, and I am a lot more comfortable with the prospect of negotiating that starting rate, since I know it's usually a little flexible. Learned that the hard way a few times.

I would love to be more in the $14-17/hour range. Combine that with the child support that I expect by October or so, and I would be paying off bills left and right. I could still get some stuff done with maybe $13.50...but seriously for that drive, that's the lowest I can really go. I'm hoping though that the benefit package is great enough with them being a healthcare provider that that could kind of act as a raise too, over another job.

Family health premiums, even through employers are outta this world! At CWT, my health premium deducted every pay period was about $170...just for the medical! That didn't include dental and vision! Out of an 80 hour paycheck, that was like making $2.13 LESS than what I was making, just for medical insurance. Those are the things you have to look at. Never just get hung up on the number. There's more to it than that!

In other news, I got my Financial Aid Suspension lifted. YAY!!! Now I just have to get my Academic Suspension lifted and get me reinstated in school so I can start classes again by Fall 2 Term in October. The email was sent as requested today. I am now awaiting the reply...

Lots to pray and believe about right now!

Today Marks 2 Months!

Yep, just 2 short calendar months ago, I was called into the office and let go. Laid off. Given the boot. Given the old heave ho! You get the picture. Do I miss it?

In the immortal words of Alicia Silverstone as Cher in Clueless: As If!!

Seriously, what about feeding my sick child Motrin in the car in front of daycare and driving to work, praying it lasts the full 8 hours before it wears off should I be missing? What part of missing my Straight A students' Honor Program at school the end of last year because I couldn't have the day off should I be upset about?

Don't know? Yeah, me neither. That is what I will focus on, so that I never have to settle for that kind of misery and mediocrity again. Those kinds of things will be my 'Why'.

What's your 'Why'?

Half the Year is Gone!

I still feel like I am on my way to my goal of complete self-employment by the end of the year.

Things have been a little rough with the finances and all, but I believe it's time for it to look up a bit. I have officially reached about as low as I can get right now. But, I am at peace because God has commanded me (okay, HE forced me) to "Get Outta The Boat!" That is reference to an awesome TD Jakes sermon, on moving outside your "comfort zone" to get the full promises of God in your life.

So, what was my boat, you ask? Well, I was called into the office and let go today!

That's right, I am officially unemployed!

More at a later time! I PROMISE...

Time is moving on...

Man, have I been a little MIA lately or what? I had gotten so good at my blogging schedule! But with everything going on with the new business stuff and just life in general, I have been slacking major.

Last night, I watch 'Hairspray'. What a great little film!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were so many relevant messages in it, even for today. It was one the kids could watch and enjoy also, so it was a great evening. Viv came over and braided Starr's hair. Champagne had hers braided the evening before (could have wrung her neck for not even flinching when Viv comb her hair, yet I apply grease and she's tearing up already!). That will be their "look" for the summer, cause both of them will be swimming soon enough! I rented '27 Dresses' tonight. I wanted to get 'Untraceable' but I thought that was a little dark for me right now. The other choice was 'P.S. I Love You'....and um...hell no! A little too emotional right now for that one!

I had an awesome Saturday and Sunday night with my sweetie. That felt good, being able to sleep with him and wake up with him too. (And boy does he know how to wake a girl up!!)

Ok, I am back! (huge, guilty grin) I am waiting to hear whether I am what's called "client qualified" for my first client with Arise. It's one I really wanted, and then the other obstacle would be paying for it within 24hours. But, I am working on that now too.

A couple of people on my team got fired on Monday afternoon, so that brought things really close to home. Not like I would be as broken up as one would expect me to be in such a situation if it happened to me, but I am not ready just yet! Got to at least secure one steady Arise client, while working on my second...and my other streams of income too! My magnets for my car came, as well as my admin. business cards. I just need to work on my sales letter and/or brochure for the admin services...and I have YET to do my travel flyer! Slacker I know. I am also working on networking opportunities as well in the very near future. I would LOVE to build my own little mailing list for my travel services, and I really want to get church business too!!

As usual, I got a lot to do. So, don't be mad if you don't see me for a minute! K??

p.s. My sweetie used some fabulous Marine-type stealth skills to deliver a Mother's Day to my front door unnoticed...after he left that afternoon! And what a nice card it was:

"There aren't many challenges bigger than those faced by single mothers...but if anyone is up to the challenge, you are. You're a wonderful mother and you deserve a Happy Mother's Day!"
Did that not totally ROCK, or am I just a bit biased??

Living for the Weekend

First things first: The microwave cart is still in the van.

Okay, now that that's out of the way. I left work a few hours early today. My bff was sweet today asking me how that affects my pay. I am keeping a pretty good watch on it. Today I really only took like an hour and 15minutes unpaid. Who knows? I will probably go my next two weeks paycheck cycle and not take any time off. I am trying to be on top of things. I probably lost about 12 or 13 hours this pay period, which will be a dent, but not drastic. I bet it will be enough to shock me back to reality of taking time off. When it's slow, I can focus on things to do for StarrDom!

They've been laying off people across the hall at full service. Some part timers but some full-timers too. What was shocking is that the other lady who used to work til 6p with me, then went to full service a little too prematurely to get better hours....she was one of the people laid off today!! If she would have just stayed for another month, she would have heard that we were getting new hires. Oh well!

See how God looked out for me?? The ONLY reason I didn't apply for the new positions at Gap was because I was on a written warning, and literally couldn't. Otherwise...that could have been me!!!

Well, I think I am going to lay up on the couch tonight and watch me a movie...any movie. We spent all evening at Grandmother's house. Got a gorgeous comforter set from her, and some clothes and a kickin pair of bootie mules from Mom...plus some more canned goods from grandmother. Tomorrow the plan is to hit the matinee and go see Iron Man. I think it's gonna be really good.

As always, I will let you know.

Friday in Review

A little different than the usual Weekend in Review post, eh?

Well, first off the day started with a bang...or shall I say a rumble! Yes, you are correct!! We had an EARTHQUAKE!!!! You know for Disaster Girl here, I was in bliss all day! Nothing fell of the dresser or anything like that in my duplex. But, what I did feel was my bed shaking like a couple of the kids were jumping on it. That's what woke me up! When I realized what it was, I ran to the computer to confirm it. I was so excited!!! I check 2 of the local TV stations' websites and.....nothing. I waited about 5 minutes, then checked again. Nothing. This was at about 430a mind you, and I was off work that day, so I could afford to sleep in a bit.

When I woke again at almost 7a, I went straight for the computer and...there it was!! 5.4 (later revised to 5.2) earthquake shakes southern Illinois!! WOOHOO!!! I ran upstairs to wake the kids like it was Christmas Day!! They thought it was cool too. Don't worry, they know they're mother is a little off!

Honestly, I was already feeling great knowing that I didn't have to work that day. To top it all off, by the end of the day I was going to have a decent sum of money AND see my Punkin!!! Yes, my ex-husband took the deal and we closed the case in Missouri, effective Friday. Before I left Missouri, I had already been to the bank to deposit the cashier's check, less some much needed cash for the weekend...and for my sweetie! Man, that felt SO GOOD being able to give him that money, especially since he really could use it right now. Remember the loan he gave me around my birthday? Well, I insisted on paying him back...and was finally able to! I should have done it out of my tax return, but there were some really pressing issues that needed to be tended to. I felt horribly when he brought it up to me too, so this was a big relief for me.

What else did I do on Friday? I went and got a pedicure. Then, I went shopping for a shirt to wear that evening. THEN....I GOT MY HAIR DONE!!!!!! It really is shocking isn't it? In all the time I have had this blog, that is one thing you have NEVER read here. I got a relaxer and a great little do, but then it rained (of course), so i had to improvise that evening. I then went down to The City to get a new pair of contacts for my niece, who turned 16 on Thursday.

By 430p, I was driving up to my neck of the woods to pick up the kids, and it was really pouring down! But it was still sunshine in my world, because my sweetie was on his way to me! I was very excited to be seeing him in mere hours! Plus, I was excited about the company dinner/dance that night too.

Fast forward a bit. I got the kids all settled with my niece here watching them for the night and headed to the Hampton Inn Westport to check in and get to the special reception they were holding for us. I made it there for just a few minutes of it, but I had to run back out to Target to find shoes for the evening! Seems the pair I was wearing lost the tip off the heel, and the gorgeous pair I brought to wear was missing the tip off one shoe!!! I found some that were $20, so that worked out fine. I arrived back at the hotel, just in time to meet Dante in the lobby! We went to the room and...well, you know what happened next. Then we started getting ready. He looked very handsome in his 3 piece black suit, and me with my very elegant sklacks (like skorts, but longer...and that's MY word) and my fabulous black shirt I bought. I did the whole "smoky eye" thing that's all the rage now with some nice red lips...Gorgeous!!!

We enjoyed the event, and had a great time with our tablemates...which included my manager and his boyfriend. I even took a picture of them...aren't I just progressive? LOL!!

We got back to hotel, I changed clothes, and he had to deal with some USMC stuff, then we headed to a coworkers room for our own afterparty! We finally headed back to our room at 3a, to which we both promptly got undressed and....CRASHED!!! Seriously, we were sleep within minutes! But the morning....

He got on the road about 9a, but not after I made him a little breakfast plate from the hotel. You know me, I love serving my man! He sent me a text at 130p to let me know he was back and on his way to do a funeral but, by that time I was home in bed hungover and sleep! He was home passed out by about 530p! He called to let me know he was on his way to the house...and he was going to bed and would likely talk to me Sunday! To which he sent me a good afternoon text at about 1230p! I took the kids to a Chinese buffet for dinner Saturday night after I was feeling a bit better. When we left there, we stopped and got "Nancy Drew" from Redbox, then it was off to bed when that went off!

This was a great weekend! And with the prospect of a day or two off this week from work...it promises to be a great week too!!!

PS...I got Inc'd today!!!! The StarrDom Corporation is being born!!! Getting closer to my WAH (work at home) goal everyday!!

April 16, 2008

Okay...I'm Back...Sort Of

The virus/malware is still attacking my poor little laptop profusely. But take heart! I finally swapped hard drives in my desktop. In this quest for a more secure computer, I downloaded Mozilla Firefox internet browser and...it...is....AWESOME!

I now have it on my desktop, and I have been telling others about it as well. One of thinsg is that it is supposed to be way more secure than IE. So far so good.

I am off this coming Friday from work, and I have a couple of important pieces of business to take care of that day. I think I will also get my hair done that day as well. Yep, that's right, me in the beautician's chair! I want it relaxed, trimmed, and with a TON of body like ole girl from Why Did I Get Married?.

My company's annual dinner dance is that night, and I just got confirmed from Dante that he will be able to make it to the party!!! Now, I just have to ask my mom if she will come up and watch the kids for me until Saturday morning when we check out of the hotel.

Hotel? Yep, that's right. They have special rates and a block of rooms, so several of us are staying there. One bonus is they have a shuttle that will go all night from the hotel to the venue, so we can park at the hotel and take the shuttle to and fro. That's also great since they have an open bar too!!! No drinking and driving here!!!

Pay close attention to the following equation:

Alcohol + 2 Scorpios + a hotel room + sex = GREAT NIGHT!!!!

Any questions???

Somewhere in that night when we get back to the room, I would like to talk to him about "us". I seriously don't want to put pressure where there doesn't need to be, that is not my intention. Especially not now with so much going on with him on the workfront. But, I am wondering if we are the most we'll ever be, or if there will be more as time goes on. See, one of the things is that there hasn't been very much interaction with the children, it's usually just he and I. So, I can't really gauge his level of involvement or realization that this is actually a package deal and not just me, should he decide he wants to go further. Now, if he decides that we really are just what we are right now, then that's cool too. At least I will know what to do with these feelings just under the surface for him that I am consistently denying. Easier to cool the love now than later, when I'm in too deep to recover easily.

Safety first! :)

April 11, 2008

SO Glad it is Friday!!

After this week...living for the weekend has never been more true!! This week was by far the hardest I have worked since I've been at CWT!! People think that working a desk job is not tiring or exhausting. To all you manual laborers out there: You don't know tired til you are mentally exhausted!!

It's 10p and I can barely keep my eyes open! I am gonna talk to my momma and hit the sack! My sweetie is in the bed already with a splitting headache, poor baby. I wish I could be there to just rub his head until he fell asleep next to me...

Okay, okay...back to reality. He hasn't had the best week either, and unfortunately, today just brought it all to a head. Sometimes, people would do so much better if they just kept their mouth shut! I mean, I know how hard and long he's been working...just trying to get caught up (from a mess he inherited, mind you). So for the supervisor to say what he did? It pissed me the hell off, so I can imagine what he really feels like!!

I made it to Wal-Mart to get vacuum cleaner exchanged today. After heavy research, I decided on a vacuum cleaner, went to 2 different stores, only to get it home and discover it was missing the cannister!! Not very helpful for the vacuum to suck the crap up from the floor, only to spray it on everythig else because there is no canister to collect it in!! So, I picked up the kids and we went in and out of Wal-Mart, didn't even get a pack of gum!! I will likely be back there tomorrow with my list, but I knew what I needed for right this second.

The kids are doing great. We watched a movie from Redbox this evening called The Seeker. It was a neat little sci-fi fantasy type movie. They all enjoyed it. Isis and Eclipse were in here the whole time as well, so it was a whole family affair! I made a vet appointment for them finally to get their shots. It's the first week in May, so I have a little time to prepare, though the cost isn't too terrible, especially since it's only once a year.

Ok, I am fading surely. I typed as fast as I could to get the day's highlights out, but I can't hold on any longer! Let The Weekend Officially Begin!!

p.s. I ate a cinnamon roll from Krispy Kreme today, but threw away a third of it. I just didn't really want it that bad! Go Me!!!

March 25, 2008

I Survived Food Day!!!

BIG Accomplishment for me people!! We had an "Easter Dinner" themed food day. Brown Sugar and Pineapple glazed Ham, Roast Beef with Gravy, 2 kinds of mashed potatoed, green beans, corn, fruit tray, veggie tray, rolls, salad, sweet potatoes, and desserts to die for! This was rated one of our best food days ever! Mind you, we do this once a month!

What did I have? No Krispy Kreme this morning, I ate my Vegetable Quiche Cups and my turkey bacon. I ate salad, green beans, roast beef (so good), sweet potatoes and raw veggies! Was I so tempted when the desserts came out? Oh boy!!! I ALMOST went for the "Forkful Rule" - just grab a forkful of everything for the taste of it! But my bff snapped me back into reality! I went and got my sugar-free jello cup from the fridge, then had some celery and natural peanut butter! I was very satisfied!

For some reason I am exceptionally sleepy today too, like I was last night. I was so tired last night that I didn't get to blog and tell you that I am on my way with the work at home company! I was worried that I wouldn't pass the background (ie credit) check, but it came back in about 24 hours!! That was yet more confirmation that I am on the right path! Now, I just have to fork over the money to incorporate to www.amerilawyer.com (great rates) for my IL corporation, and I will be good to go! Ready for the next step!

I have even figured out my exit strategy for CWT, if necessary. The main plan is to ferverently request part-time, or if there are home worker positions with better hours available by fall. If no on both of those fronts, and it doesn't look like changes are on the horizon, I will get terminated! That way, I will be able to file IL unemployment...which is not a shabby amount by far. Trust me on this! That gives me 6months of guaranteed income while I am stabilizing my income through my corporation! Don't tell anyone though...this will be our little secret!

SHHHHHH!!!

By the way, down 5 pounds so far!!! I can deal with 20lbs in a month for sure!

March 22, 2008

Time Off

I took Thursday and Friday off from work this past week. I must say, I could truly do that everyday. I know, I know. There are plenty of people who say they would be bored at home all day and blah, blah, blah. But I promise, if I could figure out a way to still pay all my bills and stay home everyday free to come and go as I please? Oh it would be on!! To put it another way: It's Saturday and I am already dreading Monday! That's how much I enjoyed being off!

South Beach is still going very well, no slips at all! The level of temptation is greatly decreased, mainly because I know it's all in my head. Most of my cravings are not physical...they are mental. So, my goal is to get to Phase 3 (before summer hopefully) and then get back to eating stuff I like in moderation. For example, I don't have to have an entire sleeve of Thin Mint cookies, I can eat 2 or 3 and be satisfied! I could have 1 Krispy Kreme doughnut, instead of 3 or 4 throughout the day. I can eat Red Hot Riplets in single servings at a time, not a whole bag! Those are some things I have been trying to monitor for a while now, my portion sizes. That single act, without cutting any foods from my diet, made me maintain my weight for several months. In other words, I wasn't losing any weight...but I wasn't gaining any either. When I get to 165, we'll see how I feel and if I want to go a little lower like 150 maybe. First steps first though.

Turns out my sister was trying to drive to Mississippi to see our cousin this weekend, so she couldn't commit to keeping the kids. I called Mom on Thursday and asked if she would be willing to come up and stay the night and she said agreed. My trip was on! I told Dante and he modified his flight plans. So I started packing and got ready Friday afternoon. Mom called to let me know she was running late and she would get there at 7p instead of 6p. I got on the road right around 7p, and cruised there at about 80mph. I was very careful while driving, and talked to Jerome on my cell (with my earpiece in) most of the drive.

I checked into the hotel about 30-45 minutes before Dante arrived, which was perfect. That gave me enough time to "prepare". I emailed him a couple of pictures earlier for him to choose what I was to wear that evening. Unfortunately, the one we both liked didn't fit as well as I though (too big, believe it or not) so I had to go with my second choice. I thought the whole concept was pretty cute though, kind of building up excitement until we see each other! I didn't look like a Victoria's Secret model in that outfit, cause I don't quite have that body, but hopefully he appreciated the effort! I showered and set up my laptop with speakers and a playlist for the evening. When he came in we had to kiss for a few minutes, just because! He went back to his truck and got his things so he could take a shower....more kisses! After he was nice and clean and dry, he was mine!!!

Put it this way, I should start at the Y next week for sure, because my entire body is sore! Wow!! It is ALWAYS worth the wait with him! Whether it's a few weeks, or a month, or a year...it would ALWAYS be worth the wait. This distance thing is a little difficult for him and for me, especially when all we want to do is cuddle up at night together. But in my opinion, whenever we do get together, it is so worth it.

What I realized also last night - and this morning - is that it's not all just a physical connection. I actually feel the emotions running like a current between us. I don't know how he truly feels about me, if there is love there or just a deep like, and I don't feel it's the right time to ask. Somedays I don't know how I feel about him, mainly because I am still in denial about my true feelings for fear of getting hurt in the end. But, when I feel what I felt on this trip, I know there is something there, just below the surface that neither one of us wants to acknowledge just yet.
If I think too hard, it can easily stress me out, because there's so much that goes along with that. I mean the majority of our interactions have just been the two of us. But, my reality is that there's not just me, there's four children as well. I don't know how he feels about that (mainly because I've a little too afraid to ask) as a long term prospect. Heck, I don't know how he feels about me as a long term prospect! So, I will only think so far about it, then just let it go and relax and enjoy our relationship just as it is.

Eventually the time may come to discuss it, but it's just not here yet, and I don't want to be the one to rush it.

A Trying Day

Today started out okay. It was raining, but it wasn't that cold so that made it okay.

Then I checked my voicemail.

The usual stuff. The loan place I owe left me a reminder message last week. Then I got the landlord's halfway annoyed voicemail about rent (which I deposited on my lunch into the tenant's account a couple of hours later the same day). That kind of struck me, because I hadn't been such a good paying tenant while I have been here. But I was managing the stress.

By now the calls at work are starting to pile up due to bad thunderstorms in Dallas-Fort Worth, cancelling everything from, to and through there. At one point, there were 22 calls on hold! In the almost 2 years I have been there, that has NEVER happened! That reminded me of the old emergency service center days where, on a bad day, it was normal to see that many calls on hold all day during a weather situation. But not here! To add insult to injury, our manager went home sick because he wasn't feeling good...again. My sentiments for that? Two things.

  1. Must be nice to be salary (ie, not subject to our attendance policy).
  2. MAN UP!!! The rest of us drag our asses in the sick or not, so we don't get written up. We put in a full 8 hours. I think you can too!

Anywho, the most stressful part of the day came when I received a reply to a text message I sent Joe (ex-husband) about arrears in child support. You see, he had worked at Chrysler since 1995, the year we got married. He took the buyout last month, and has been waiting for his check to clear to pay into the child support system. Well, according to him, they claim he was paid up and is only a little over $100 behind! I haven't received support since the 2nd week in January! I was counting on that money...and soon! So I freaked out and totally went into stress overdrive. I was bawling in the car at lunch, literally driving to nowhere. I almost stopped and bought some food that I didn't need. I was SO CLOSE to just getting me a slice of that stollen that the lady brought to work. Those are the two things I do, when I get upset. Buy something, never more than $20, and eat junk...usually in the form of a baked good.

I was listening to a message from Creflo Dollar on my Walkman (again, one of my better investments in a while!), and most of the things he was saying was directly related to what I was going through right then. That was a reminder that God is still on the throne, He is in control, and He loves ME!!!

I went back to work, made my salad that I brought from home, and dived back into the calls! I changed my mood because I know that what seems dark right now will always get better! ALWAYS!

I talked to the computer people that I bought the new desktop from this morning also. I explained what was happening with it, and he advised he would be shipping me a new hard drive today or tomorrow. When I heard the clicking noise, I knew the hard drive had failed. I would like 2 new peices for my home office, then I swear I won't buy anymore: A flat panel monitor and a true all-in-one color printer/scanner/copier/fax. Wal-Mart had what I want, and i can get a kick-ass rebate on it too, so that's VERY tempting. I could sell the other 2 to make up the cost!

Speaking of selling. i do think I am about to seriously embark on an ebay adventure. I will keep you posted on that as time goes on. It's all about generating multiple streams of income, so I am never stuck when one source fails. That's what has happened with the child support thing, but I must recover and fast. Life still goes on!!!

p.s. Day Two, though a challenge, was a resounding success!!

An Average Week

Nothing really grand or blog worthy has happened this week. Ever had those times?

I have just been mosying along, in my own little word as usual. Going to work and coming home.

Work has been work. I just really try not to let it upset me anymore. It's gonna be what it's gonna be. When I get tired enough of it, I'll leave for something better.

Winter still totally BLOWS! We got more ice the other day, then it snowed all day on top of that. Awesomely enough, the majority of the snow was gone the next day because the sun was shining and it was in the mid-forties.

I am still on the sick end of things, that's for sure. I feel fine, except for the cough and phlegm that's still hanging on. It's not too bad though, it sounds worse than it is.

The girls are adjusting just fine. I think they have their days and nights mixed up though! We can get home in the evening, and you probably won't see either of the girls until about 9p! The kids are pretty much headed to bed by then, and I am winding down too! Then they nutty things like wanna be running through the house playing half the night. DJ has turned into this light sleeper as of late, so Isis actually woke him up one morning at 4am! Of course it was a school day, and oddly enough he couldn't fall back asleep. So now, we make sure the girls are downstairs and we close the door to the upstairs. It works!

Bruzer will be the big 0-4 tomorrow! I am excited. It's not like we have anything grand planned, but my baby is 4 years old! That is both exciting and a blessing all at the same time!!! I am SO grateful to God for my children. I realize they are on loan, and He has reserved the right to call them home at any time. But I sincerely believe and pray that they will be around long into adulthood to enrich this world somehow...even it's just with love!

My sweetie is coming to town tomorrow, which excites me as well. I always love to see him. Just to be close to him is an absolute treat. It's hard to describe, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Guess who is sick again?

Yes, don't be jealous. It is I! My annual bout of sickness has come upon me. Let's see. It started with the severe body aches and chills last Thursday and Friday. It lightened up over the weekend, though left me completely void of energy. Monday I lounged, since I had a relapse. Christmas Day I worked for four hours, from noon to 4p. All was normal until...

Last night at about 9p when anything I had left in my stomach decided it wanted out...and fast! I slept on the couch and at 330a and 5a, I was up over the porcelain bowl dry heaving since there was nothing left in there to throw up. I debated going to work today. But since I am trying to keep my occurrences down to a minimum, I went ahead and got up. I got there about 15 minutes late and pretty much slept all day. I drank water this morning, and within an hour that was coming back up. I ate some mandarin oranges about 1p.
I was able to keep them down!! WooHoo!!
When I got home, I was actually starting to feel hungry, so I crunched on some dry cereal.
Still doing good.
Time to move up to chicken broth. I have finished a half teacup at the time of this writing, and all is still well!
At this rate, I may actually want to eat real food by tomorrow!!

So, backtrack to Christmas. It was a splendid day. I was so overwhelmingly blessed, I just could never be thankful enough. My prayer is that I can pay it forward like that to others in the near future. They got things they really wanted and totally loved. The things from work, as well as the things my Punkin brought were just absolutely a godsend. I even felt froggy enough to put up my little tree overnight, to make it even more special for them in the morning.

So that I wouldn't hear anything from anyone, I made sure my kids were dressed and well. I combed the girls' hair, and I cut Bruzer's hair. DJ is gone with his dad for a couple of weeks during school break. They looked ever so cute in the clothes they wore as well. Especially Starr, in her black turleneck, black leather (yes, leather) skirt, and long denim duster. She was too cute, and yes of course I am biased.

My sweetie came up there to my job on Christmas and brought his cute little shadow with him, his neice. I bought him a digital camera, and he was very pleased about that. He thanked me again the next day for it. She is a little doll too, the spitting image of her mother and her grandmother. I was glad I got to see him before he headed back to Memphis. We are already looking forward to my next trip down there.

So this also begins a time to reflect back on the past year and make plans for the fuure. We'll discuss that in another post...it's close to bedtime!

Sleet

Yes, I know. Winter has officially begun. It was snowing earlier in the afternoon...then it all changed! It's been downhill from there. But, as long as we don't end up where we were last year...life is good!

Got my time bridged at work. Now that means nothing for seniority shift bids, but it does mean I will now have an extra week of vacation for 2008. WooHoo!! So I have four weeks of time to account for next year! That is grand!!! Dante and I are planning a getaway to Reno or Vegas using my Delta tickets I won last year. We are looking at probably the second or third week in March as ideal. Once again, I will have to rely on my sisters, since the kids are in school during that time. But as long as I have their clothes ironed and food for them and everything, all should be okay I am thinking.

Okay...I am really hoping!!

And praying!!

Maybe a little begging too!!

I'll keep you posted...

This Week in Review

Monday: DJ had a basketball game. I switched with Kween to get off at 4p, since it was a 430p game. I hate that they ASSUME one of these kids' parents stays at home! I am the only parent, and I work full time! I worked through my lunch and left at 330p, which helped out a lot! WHAT AN AWESOME GAME!!! The kids played so well together, I was literally bursting with pride! They actuallyt won!!! They don't technically keep score, but people do anyway. And after their shutout 35-0 against O'Fallon the Friday before, they really needed this boost. And it was just an all around great game! That was one of two highlights that day.
The other was talking to the New Guy on my way to the game. I just needed to clear the air with him, and make sure he knew I wasn't still mad at him. You remember my big rant, don't you? We had a good conversation, and I'm glad for it. I wanted him to know that I understood the decision that he made and that it wasn't an easy decision for him, and that I thought he was a good guy and definitely a good man. I even told him he could be my friend and call me every now and again. (Don't know if he'll take me up on that one though)

Tuesday: Paypal's bank tried to take the $474.59 payment out of my account again. This happens AFTER I deposit a check into my landlord's bank account! My bank could in no way confirm to me that they would hold my rent check to clear when presented. That check could not bounce!! Stress level is mounting again.

Wednesday: Still worried over finances, but at least the rent check hasn't bounced...yet.

Thursday: Worked in the office by myself from 730a-4p. It was very cool as usual. I had my laptop set up and was watching movies that I rented from Redbox (which I totally love). I watched Live Free or Die Hard, which was action-packed and pretty awesome all around. It has the guy from the commercials that plays the Mac...and he did very well. Reminded me of a couple of great pairings of the action star and the comic relief from previous films. Judge Dredd (Stallone and Rob Schneider) and Rundown (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Sean William Scott (from the American Pie movies)).

Went to my sister's house to eat and retrieve the children. Mom came up to my house, then I took her van to work. She drove my van since all the carseats were already in there. I ate one plate of food, then had a good helping of ambrosia. I was good for the rest of the night. I packed some cake and more ambrosia, and we headed home. After all, I still had to work Friday too!

Friday: One other person was in the office today and thank goodness it was someone I could stand all day. I still had my laptop set up though. Between calls I was able to watch 2 movies. It was a lot busier than Thanksgiving. I logged about 30 calls, and that wasn't everything! Some were quick answers to quick questions, and I didn't get a name, so I didn't log them. Mom came up again this morning and watched the kids for me.
Everything looks like it may be getting back to normal with my bank account. As soon as that happens though, I am closing my paypal and ebay accounts. If I need them again, then I can re-register at a later time. I am just tired of being constantly "behind the 8-ball". I want more, and the kids and I deserve more too! When things like this happen to people like me, it takes a long time to recover from it. But God is still on the throne, and those wrongdoers will not triumph on one of His children...in the Mighty Name of Jesus!!

The Week in Review

WOW! What a week!

Work was work. Got an HR email about a midnight homeworker position...that I don't qualify for since I am still on written for attendance! Oh well...not for me at this time is the way I look at it. But, I believe there will be another position coming soon, if I am to stay at that job. It's funny listening to some of the people in there talking about how they couldn't work at home because they need the socialization. Mind youm these people either have no children or their children are grown with lives of their own. There are so many things I would love to do, if I could work overnight while my children are sleeping. I could work HSN during the afternoons when I wake up, and then in the evenings...or on my off days from CWT. I could do data entry on my laptop while working CWT, and when it was slow. AND, I would be able to pick my kids up from school. AND, I would be able to pick my nieces up, therefore saving my sisters on latchkey costs. AND, I wouldn't have to worry about missing work of one the WonderTwins had a fever and couldn't go to work the next day. AND, I could take them to any functions they needed to go to in the time between school dismissal and when I would usually pick them up.

Needlesstosay, I am really hopeful about this one. I let my manager know that I was VERY interested in a midnight homeworker position. If all continues as it is going, I should off my written attendance warning by December 15. I have a couple things from last year this time falling off by then. Once that happens, I am free to move about the company!

The most memorable thing that happened to me this week was (drumroll).......

GETTING MY EBAY ACCOUNT HACKED AND HAVING SOME ASSHOLE IN INDONESIA BUY OVER $2000 IN CELL PHONES...THEN PAY FOR AT LEAST ONE OF THEM THRU MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT!!!

Yeah.....good times, good times.

Please. Don't start the "that's why I don't shop online" sanctimonious bullcrap! Yeah, I've heard it a couple of times this week and it is quite annoying. Especially when I know that my bff wasn't shopping online but paying at a major hotel chain when her credit card info was stolen and used to buy several hundred dollars worth of groceries in Mexico!! Criminals will find a way to make things happen, whether it is online or offline!

Paypal rectified the situation very quickly, as did ebay. I contacted the sellers of all these $400-$600 cell phones and explained the situation. Most responded by filing a dispute, which gets their listing fees waived so they can relist at no additional cost. I had one seller that was being a moron saying they had already received payment. So I replied that no payment was coming or will come from my paypal account and that I am sure there will be a dispute from whoever's paypal account he hacked into, but that it was up to them if they wanted to take the chance and send the item. I notified my bank immediately, and now I just have to have them waive a NSF fee, then life is good.

What's ironic is that I haven't really been shopping on ebay because of my finances. I have had that account for about 5 years and nothing like that has ever happened. But because I let my guard down, and wasn't active or watching over it, I get burned. So, lesson learned, and I am back on top of it.

I have been talking to Dante this week. We text alot, which is uber-convenient. Some say it's impersonal and whatever, but when I am working I can't very well talk on the phone. But, I can text!!! I felt better about it, all the melancholy feelings that I had last weekend after he left. I can't wait til he gets here this weekend for his birthday. I have a few tricks up my sleeve for him! I want to make his birthday as memorable as he made mine!

He is still so sweet and thankful about what happened on Saturday. I really didn't think it was a big deal, but it really meant a lot to him that I stayed. Seriously, I just couldn't see it any other way.

I will let you know how the weekend goes.

I Am Better

Today was Monday. The first day of my long-awaited 8a-430p shift!!! It was glorious! Before I knew it, it was after 4p. I sat with my charge today again. Wow! What a difference from last week!

I have decided a few things today that I plan to change over the next year. I am in no mood to share right now (did enough sharing yesterday, don't you think?)...so I will perhaps discuss them at another time. Let me say this about it. I will not allow my life to keep passing me by.

October 2, 2007

Look! Up in the Sky...It's Me!

Yeah, Yeah...I know. I suck!! But I promise to get better real soon.

So, let's see, what's been going on? Work is work. In less than a week, I should FINALLY be on an earlier shift to pick up ALL of my children. I did get a break when two new girls started and was able to move up to 9a-530p, so I can pick the WonderTwins up everyday now. Then hopefully within the next week or two I will be moving up to 8-430 or 830-5, I don't know which one yet. I want the 830-5 for the sake of my sisters, so if they need to drop the girls off with me to take to school they can. But, I also want to get off earlier too. Which is selfish because look at how many things they sacrificed to be able to pick my kids up? On the back end, what difference does 30min really make?

Other than that, I have another new friend that I have been chatting with the past week or two. Let's call this guy TechGuard (subject to change). Funny thing is he has the exact same name as the New Guy, so in talking about to friends I have distinguished him by added "New" in front of his name. And finally, the Kween, calls him "New_____", instead of "White______"! lol

Yes, he is white. Met him on yahoo im, actually. Usually I am a snob if someone I don't know pops in saying 'hi'. I will instantly block them. But this time, I decided to be nice and say hello. I was glad I did, he's a pretty cool guy. I am one who has never had an aversion to dating outside of my "race", and have done before (though long years ago). I am not looking to rush into a full-on relationship still, I am just dating and looking to play it by ear...so this is something new for me.

We have had some pretty interesting chats on occasion as well. By interesting, I do mean um...racy. So we are going to dinner Wednesday night, where I plan to determine if there is actual attraction AND chemistry in person, and if this may turn into something. I met him once for about 10 minutes, and my initial reaction was 'Okay'...not blown away or anything. He is one of those that will probably become more attractive to me through his personality, though he is not unattractive on his own. I wouldn't have picked him out on the street though. Nor would I have picked out PsychoRev or the New Guy, either. I still have a shallow side, sue me!

So, we will see how this goes, and I will keep you posted on that!

I should have a work update by the end of the week! Whew!!
